Good morning, Friends,
Galatians 5:16-17 - [16] But I say, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. [17] For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you do not do the things that you want.
Every day, there’s a battle going on inside of us. It’s not always loud or dramatic, but it’s real. The fight between what our flesh wants and what the Spirit of God desires. Paul isn’t talking about skin and bones when he says “flesh.” He’s talking about that old, sinful part of us that still wants control, still craves comfort, still leans toward rebellion. The Spirit, on the other hand, pushes us toward holiness, love, patience, and truth.
Here’s the truth: whichever one you feed will grow stronger. If you keep feeding your flesh, through bitterness, lust, pride, or selfishness, it’ll RUN YOUR LIFE. But if you walk by the Spirit, meaning you lean on God’s Word, pray for strength, and let Him check your attitude, He’ll produce fruit that looks like Jesus.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being led. The Spirit doesn’t just change your behavior; He changes your desires. That’s the encouragement, God doesn’t just tell you to fight sin, He gives you the power to win through His Spirit.
So, who’s leading your walk today, the flesh or the Spirit? You can’t walk in both directions. But if you choose to walk by the Spirit, step by step, you’ll find freedom, not the fake kind the world offers, but the kind that comes when your heart is lined up with God’s will.
Lace 'em up and get the walkin!
