Good afternoon, Friends,
Matthew 26:14-16 [14] Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests [15] and said, “What are you willing to give me to deliver Him to you?” And they weighed out thirty pieces of silver to him. [16] And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to betray Jesus.
The Holy Scriptures tells a story that's simple & cold 🥶. No drama. No hesitation. Just a question… and a price.
Judas didn’t wake up that day planning to betray Jesus. This wasn’t a crime of passion, it was calculated. He walked with Jesus, heard His teaching, saw His power, and still decided Jesus was worth less than a slave’s price (thirty pieces of silver).
Let's pause right here! The hardcore truth is that betrayal doesn’t always look like hatred. Sometimes it looks like familiarity.
Here’s the hard question this passage forces us to come to terms with:
What is Jesus worth to me, for real, for real?
Not what we "say" at church. But keepin it 💯 , what do our choices reveal about Jesus' truth worth to us?
We might not trade Jesus for silver, but there's a whole lot of things we're tempted to trade Him for. It could be:
- comfort
- approval
- control
- success
- secret sin we don’t want to give up
Judas asked, “What will you give me?”
But let's flip it, ask yourself, “What will this cost me if I follow Him fully?” That's that the real fire 🔥 right there. But sadly, many will internally cower and then decide "it’s too much to follow him fully, I'd rather just pretend." 👀 Just something to ponder on.
Check it out, Judas sold Jesus out, but Jesus still went to the cross. So that means, human betrayal did not derail God’s plan. Jesus was not caught off guard. He was not powerless. Even knowing the price, Jesus still chose obedience. Even knowing the betrayal, He still loved completely.
That means your failures, compromises, and moments of weakness are not the end of the story either. Repent and trust in Christ Jesus. Let's turn this thing around.
Thirty pieces of silver bought Judas temporary gain and hardcore lasting regret. And STILL...... Jesus paid with his life to buy our redemption.
Friends, let's pray: "Lord, search my heart. Show me where I’m tempted to trade You for anything. Help me value You above comfort, above approval, above everything. You are worth more than any price.

Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. Sin has left a crimson stain but Jesus washed me white as snow. . Hallelujah thank you Jesus.
