Daily Devotional - June 26, 2025

Good morning, Friends, 

Genesis 45:4-5 - [4] “Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. [5] But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives.

Life can get out of whack sometimes. Certain things unfold and boom, you feel like you've hit rock bottom. One situation can tumble into multiple situations, which can lead to discouragement and bitterness. However, in these Scripture verses, we see Joseph revealing himself to the brothers that sold him into slavery. Their jealousy drove them to nearly killing him but ultimately they decided to sell him. They covered up their treachery by telling their father that Joseph was killed by a wild animal. 

During his time in slavery, Joseph faced many obstacles and hardships as well as blessings and favor. He ultimately was put in a leadership position where he could be a blessing to his family. Although, his brothers did evil, God used their mischief to achieve his ultimate purpose to preserve the family from the famine. 

Friends, sometimes the road may seem rough. It may feel like you are at the end of your rope, hanging on by a thread, almost at the last straw and you want to crash out, lash out, give up, or blame God. Even though it may be difficult to see it with your eyes, God always has a plan for his people. Hardship, loss, pain, and hurt may be part of the process. Look at Joseph's response to all that he experienced, he was confident in the fact that God is sovereign, always in control and Joseph was exactly where he was supposed to be. 

Can you see the forest for the trees? There's a bigger plan in place. It may not feel good, look good, seem good, but trust in God. He has a way of shifting things when you least expect it and using the process to purify the purpose.
