Good morning, Beloved of God,
Proverbs 12:16 - [16] A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted.
Nothing tells a story like a person ready to snap at every opportunity. A walking boiling pot, a volcano, bubbling with lava ready to erupt, a walking accelerant ready for someone to light a match, the last of the straws, the only nerve left, a balloon floating in a room of needles, the pinnacle of frustration, a ball of tension wrapped around a weary brain, anybody can get it is the motto!!
Sound familiar? Have you ever seen these descriptions in yourself or other people?
The Holy Scripture states that a "fool" is quick-tempered. This type of person didn't become this way during one moment of frustration. This is built-up emotions over a sustained period of time that has caused such emotional, mental, social, and spiritual chaos that it is at the point of total devastation. This is a weapon of mass destruction: a quick-tempered individual.
In contrast, a wise person remains calm in the face of insult. Whoa!! Remaining calm is not just at the beginning of the insult, but through the entire ordeal. The calm person is not plotting and scheming on how they can attack once the other person ends their verbal barrage. Instead, they know where their strength comes from and they are reliant on God. The best place to draft a response to insults is in quietness & prayer. Moments that can throw us over the edge shows that we have a trigger that we may need to address or a situation we need to heal from. There are many stressors in life, some people know how to push the right button, expecting a "crash out" from you. Don't give it to them, give it to God and allow the Holy Spirit to heal your heart and give you the peace to formulate a response if needed.
Trust God. Remain calm. Remember the sacrifice of Christ. Study how Jesus Messiah handled insults. Go & do likewise.
You know what time it is!!!! You Win With Wisdom!
