8/25/25

Good morning, Friends,

1 Corinthians 13:4-5 - [4] Love is patient, love is kind, is not jealous, does not brag, is not puffed up; [5] it does not act unbecomingly, does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered;

Let’s keep it a buck, love is more than just saying “I love you.” Paul lays it out like this: Love has receipts. It shows up in patience, kindness, humility, and forgiveness.

In the world we’re quick to clap back when someone disrespects us. We tend to keep score, "You fooled me once, but you won't ever again". But God’s Word flips that. Real love doesn’t keep a tally of wrongs. It doesn’t blow up every time someone tests you. It’s not about flexing or getting the upper hand.

The kind of love the Scriptures speak about ain’t natural to us. When we're left to ourselves, we’re jealous, proud, self-seeking, quick to snap. But this chapter isn’t just Paul saying “try harder.” He’s describing Christ Himself. Jesus is the one who is patient and kind, who didn’t keep record of our wrongs but nailed them to the cross.

If you belong to Him, His Spirit is working this same love into you. You don’t have to stay chained to bitterness, envy, or ego. Real change happens when Christ is alive in you. That’s when you can actually forgive, actually be patient, actually love people who don’t “deserve” it.

Wrestle with this:

  • Do people around you experience patience and kindness when they deal with you, or do they feel your temper and pride?
  • Are you still keeping a mental list of what people did to you, or have you let Christ teach you to lay it down?

Bottom Line: Real love is not just a feeling. It’s action. It’s humility. It’s forgiveness. And it’s proof that Christ is alive and working in you.

Signing out! ✌🏾

  2. Amen! I always think of all that the Lord has forgiven and continues to forgive me of when I want to turn my back or not give someone grace for what I me feel or believe to be an offense. Granted its hard sometime especially give the magnitude of the offense but just thinking on the grace that has been extended to me truly makes it a lot easier. This is not to say some walls don't get built and the Lord may still have to deal with me on that but forgiveness also helps us to live in joy and not misery.
