Daily Devotional - September 17, 2025

Good morning, Friends, 

Luke 7:12-14 -12 A funeral procession was coming out as he approached the village gate. The young man who had died was a widow’s only son, and a large crowd from the village was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said. 14 Then he walked over to the coffin and touched it, and the bearers stopped. “Young man,” he said, “I tell you, get up.”

Picture the scene: a mom walking behind her son’s coffin, heartbroken, surrounded by people mourning. She’s already lost her husband, now her only son. She has nothing left. And right in the middle of all that pain, Jesus steps in. He doesn’t avoid it. He doesn’t just give nice words. His heart overflows with compassion, and He moves toward her brokenness.

That’s what love looks like. That’s what Christlikeness is. Real compassion doesn’t just feel bad for someone, it steps in, it touches the need, it brings life where there’s death.

That’s the blueprint for us!

Today, don’t just feel sorry for somebody, step in. That could mean:

• Calling someone who’s grieving.

• Helping a neighbor who’s struggling.

• Buying a meal for someone hungry.

• Encouraging a friend who’s battling depression.

• Praying with someone instead of just saying, “I’ll pray for you.”

It's deeper than surface. Look 👀 around. Who around you is quietly carrying pain that you’ve ignored?

 If Christ lives in us, then His compassion should overflow from us too. Love people in such a way that they catch a glimpse of Jesus through you.Compassion without action is just sympathy. To live like Christ is to move toward the hurting with real love.

It's also important to remember friends, that the same Jesus who stopped for the widow will stop for you. His compassion hasn’t run dry.
