Imagine walking into a room where the doorway is so low you have to bend down just to get inside. That’s a picture of humility. Now think about your heart—what if it had a “low door” too? What if every time God came near, you bowed low enough to let Him enter first? Living with a low door means there’s no room for pride, no standing tall in our own way. It means making space for God to move, lead, and rule in us before we try to take charge.
Good morning, Friends,
Proverbs 16:18 - Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.
When we let pride run our lives, it's basically us thinking too highly of ourselves or the believing that we don’t need correction. But with this mentality, we’re setting ourselves up for a painful fall. Pride blinds us to danger, makes us careless, and leaves us vulnerable. Humility, on the other hand, keeps us steady and teachable.
(1) Where in my life do I ignore wise counsel because I think I know better?
(2) Do I take quiet pride in anything more than in God’s grace?
Imagine walking into a room where the doorway is so low you have to bend down just to get inside. That’s a picture of humility. Now think about your heart—what if it had a “low door” too? Pride is sneaky. It can disguise itself as confidence, independence, or even “standing firm.” The challenge is not to destroy confidence, but to anchor it in God rather than in ourselves. True strength is dependence on Him.
When we examine this verse, it isn’t just a warning, it’s an "invitation". If pride leads to stumbling, humility leads to stability. God lifts up the humble (James 4:10). Choosing humility daily doesn’t diminish or take away from you, it actually protects you, steadies you, and positions you for God’s blessing.
Stay low so God can lift you high. Choose humility before pride chooses destruction.
Yup, yup, you know what time ⌚ it is! Humility over pride!!! Let's get it ππΎ
