Good morning, Friends,
Proverbs 25:2 - It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings to search out a matter
Sometimes we want to know why God does what He does , like why He allows pain, why doors close, why prayers seem to bounce off the ceiling. But Proverbs 25:2 reminds us that some things are hidden on purpose. God’s glory isn’t just in what He reveals, it’s also in what He conceals.
This shows us the difference between the Creator and the created. God is sovereign, meaning He rules over everything, and He doesn’t owe us an explanation. That's hard pill to swallow but it's the truth nevertheless. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us.” In other words, God knows what we don’t, and He reveals what we need to know, not all we want to know.
That’s a humbling and sobering thought, ain’t it? In a world that worships information, God reminds us that faith isn’t built on having all the answers, it’s built on trusting the One who does.
Let's check out the 2nd part of the verse: “the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”
In other words, while God hides certain things for His glory, He also invites us to dig deeper into His truth. A wise person doesn’t don’t stop at the surface, they pursue understanding through prayer, Scripture, and dependence on the Holy y Spirit. That’s where growth happens.
Think of it like searching for gold in a mine. The gold doesn’t just sit on top of the ground, you have to dig for it. God’s Word is the same way. You won’t always get answers at a glance, but when you study, pray, and stay faithful, He’ll reveal what you need in His perfect time.
Ask yourself, "am I chasing understanding for comfort, or seeking God for closeness?
Friends, when life feels unclear, resist the urge to demand answers. Instead, worship the God who’s in control and trust His wisdom when yours runs out.
Remember, the mysteries of God aren’t walls to keep you out, they’re doors inviting you closer. Seek Him in the hidden places, and you’ll find peace that passes understanding.
