Happy new year and O' happy day!
Good morning, Friends,
Luke 17:5 - And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!
In this passage Jesus was teaching His disciples about forgiveness, not the easy kind, but the kind that keeps forgiving even when it’s hard, frustrating, and painful. He was calling them to be patient and long-suffering with people who mess up again and again. The disciples realized real quick that they didn't have enough faith to carry this out on their own. They could've complained, threw a tantrum, got an attitude with Jesus, but the radical part about it is they didn't act fake or make excuses. They went straight to Jesus and said, “Increase our faith.”
That’s a powerful moment right there! The disciples understood that following Jesus isn’t just about trying harder. Sometimes it’s about admitting, “Lord, I don’t have what this requires.” They saw a spiritual gap in themselves and knew only Jesus could fill it.
Check it out, increase doesn’t always look like getting stronger. Sometimes God grows our faith by putting us in situations where we have to trust Him, especially in areas like forgiveness, patience, and endurance. These are some of the critical where we realize how much we need God.
So, where do you feel spiritually weak right now? Is it forgiving someone, being patient, trusting God, or obeying Him when it’s uncomfortable? Instead of being discouraged, take that weakness to Jesus and ask Him to increase your faith.
God isn’t upset when you admit you need help. He's giving you an invitation to pull up. The same Jesus who calls you to obey is the One who gives you the faith to do it. PERIOD!
